The World According to Cosmos: A New Chapter

This is my final posting to the World According to Cosmos WordPress site.

After nearly 11 years of writing here, I have decided to bring this site to a close.  I will no longer be updating this site effective today,  and, over time, will delete most posts until January 27, 2027, when my account expires.

This blog has been one of the most rewarding projects of my life. It has given me a place to think out loud, explore history, politics, culture, travel, and current events, and connect with readers from around the world.

Over time, however, maintaining both a traditional blog and other writing projects has become increasingly difficult. Rather than trying to do everything, I have decided to simplify and focus my writing in one place.

At age 71, I am finding it is just a bit too much to continue.

Nothing against WordPress; it is a great site, and I am glad to have had a blog there.  Their customer service is among the best in the tech world.

I will continue my Blue-sky, Facebook, Fan Story, Gmail, LinkedIn and Writing Com for at least another year if not longer. I am letting Bloglovin, Instagram, X, and Tumbler go dormant. The best account to use is my email address, available upon request.

Beginning today, I will be posting occasional essays and commentary on Substack both as a traditional blog posting and as a podcast also available on Spottily which I will continue as well. I will transfer my word-press contact list to Substack effective today..

The pace will likely be slower than in the past, once a week on average,  but I look forward to continuing the conversation there.

While the world seems increasingly noisy and polarized, I remain convinced that curiosity, good faith discussion, and a sense of perspective matter more than ever.

Thank you to everyone who has read, commented, encouraged, disagreed, and accompanied me on this journey over the years.
